Brad Fleetwood has taken the SWOSU Golf programs to new heights since arriving in January 2013 and he enters his ninth season leading the Men's and Women's Golf programs in 2021-22.
After navigating the golf program through the turmoil of the 2019-20 season that was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Coach Fleetwood led both the men's and women's teams to appearances at the NCAA Regional Championships. Both teams came up just shy of advancing to the NCAA Division II Championships with 5th and 6th place finishes respectively. The women's team's Megan Brown was named GAC Freshman of the Year and was placed on the 2020-21 WGCA All-Region team. 13 of Coach Fleetwood's players earned all conference academic honors.
The spring of 2019 became the banner year for SWOSU Women's Golf as Fleetwood's team won the first NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship in program history and advanced to the National Championships for the second time. At nationals, SWOSU's Gloria Choi finished as the national runner-up individually and led the Lady Bulldogs into Match Play with a fourth-place finish during Stroke Play. In the Match Play portion, SWOSU defeated top-ranked Barry in the opening round before falling to eventual national champion Florida Tech in the national semifinals.
In eight years, Fleetwood has led the each of his teams to the NCAA Division II Championships twice, with the men qualifying in 2013 and 2015 while the women matched that mark with appearances in 2014 and 2019. Fleetwood was named the 2016 GAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year and he has coached 51 All-GAC selections, 42 All-American Scholars, 19 All-Region selections, three GAC Freshmen of the Year, three GAC Players of the Year, three All-Americans and two SWOSU Athletes of the Year.
Fleetwood came to SWOSU with NCAA Division I experience after serving as an assistant coach at Jacksonville State University from 2008-2012. During his tenure at Jacksonville State, he helped the Gamecocks to a combined four Ohio Valley Conference championships and coached two OVC Players of the Year and five Freshmen of the Year. The Gamecocks also advanced to five NCAA Division I Regionals with Fleetwood on staff and he was twice nominated for the GCAA Jan Strickland Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
Prior to his stint at JSU, Fleetwood served as the graduate assistant coach and assistant coach at his alma mater Northeastern Oklahoma State University from 2004-2008. The Riverhawks secured seven NCAA Regional bids including two national championship appearances.
Fleetwood is a native of Duncan, Okla., and a 2000 graduate from Duncan High School and he has one daughter, Ally Catherine. He holds two degrees from Northeastern State, earning his bachelors of Business Administration in 2005 and a master’s in Health and Kinesiology in 2007.
